Description

Authentic Costa Rican tea for weight loss made with hibiscus, lemongrass, ginger, and tropical pineapple. This metabolism-boosting herbal tea supports natural fat burning, digestion, and healthy weight management. A delicious, refreshing drink youโ€™ll actually want to drink daily!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 stalks fresh lemongrass (crushed)
  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (sliced)
  • 1/3 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup fresh pineapple (chopped)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 green tea bag (optional, tag removed)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Stevia or raw honey (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the lemongrass: Gently smash the lemongrass stalks with the back of a knife or rolling pin to release the essential oils.
  2. Combine ingredients: Add the crushed lemongrass, dried hibiscus flowers, sliced ginger, mint leaves, pineapple pieces, cinnamon stick, and water to a medium pot. Add green tea bag if using.
  3. Bring to simmer: Heat over medium heat until you see small bubbles forming around the edges. Do not boil aggressively.
  4. Simmer gently: Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes to extract all the beneficial compounds.
  5. Remove and cover: Take the pot off the heat and cover immediately to trap the aromatic oils.
  6. Steep: Let the tea steep for an additional 10 minutes.
  7. Strain and serve: Strain the tea into a pitcher or directly into mugs. Add fresh lime juice right before serving.
  8. Sweeten (optional): Taste and add stevia or honey if desired, though the pineapple provides natural sweetness.
  9. Enjoy: Serve hot for metabolism boost, or chill and serve over ice for a refreshing weight loss drink.

Notes

For Best Weight Loss Results:

  • Drink 2-3 cups daily: one in the morning 20-30 minutes before breakfast, one mid-afternoon, and optionally one in the evening (skip green tea for evening serving)
  • Stay consistent for at least 4-6 weeks to see noticeable results
  • Combine with balanced nutrition and regular movement for optimal benefits
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days; add lime juice fresh each time

  • Chamomile tea can replace green tea for caffeine-free option
  • Add cayenne pepper for extra thermogenic effect

Health Note: Consult your healthcare provider before starting any new wellness routine, especially if taking medications or have health conditions. Hibiscus can interact with blood pressure medications.
