Ingredients
Scale
- 2 stalks fresh lemongrass (crushed)
- 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger (sliced)
- 1/3 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup fresh pineapple (chopped)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 cups water
- 1 green tea bag (optional, tag removed)
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- Stevia or raw honey (optional, to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the lemongrass: Gently smash the lemongrass stalks with the back of a knife or rolling pin to release the essential oils.
- Combine ingredients: Add the crushed lemongrass, dried hibiscus flowers, sliced ginger, mint leaves, pineapple pieces, cinnamon stick, and water to a medium pot. Add green tea bag if using.
- Bring to simmer: Heat over medium heat until you see small bubbles forming around the edges. Do not boil aggressively.
- Simmer gently: Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes to extract all the beneficial compounds.
- Remove and cover: Take the pot off the heat and cover immediately to trap the aromatic oils.
- Steep: Let the tea steep for an additional 10 minutes.
- Strain and serve: Strain the tea into a pitcher or directly into mugs. Add fresh lime juice right before serving.
- Sweeten (optional): Taste and add stevia or honey if desired, though the pineapple provides natural sweetness.
- Enjoy: Serve hot for metabolism boost, or chill and serve over ice for a refreshing weight loss drink.
